OUR ARTISANS

Hand weaving

ARTISANS FROM GUJARAT

Babu and his wife Gauri weave our scarves. For the past eleven years, they have been perfecting the art of high quality textile weaving on pit-looms from their family-run workshop in Kutch, Gujarat. Babu’s family has been making handwoven textiles for over ninety years. They told us how this is an integral part of who they are and how the art has been passed down through generations.

Gauri's favorite colour is pink and she loves wearing sarees. They have four children who study in a local school in Kutch. Their middle daughter wants to learn photography and the son wants to pursue singing to be able to start his own band.

ARTISANS FROM RAJASTHAN

Hand block printing is at the heart of what we do. We take pride in supporting the local community who are trying to keep this ancient art alive. Over the past three years our team of block printers has grown from three to seven printers. Prakash and Hanuman are the true masters of the craft and they also oversea our production. If you own one of our scarves, its printed by them.

Each year we spend two months with them to work on developing new designs and commission projects.

ARTISANS FROM AHMEDABAD

Meet Maniram - a true mathematical genius! He is our go to man to convert all our hand drawn designs into numbers which are then convert into beautiful hand carved wooden blocks. Maniran works with his three sons to create some of the most accurate blocks for repeat patterns and registration in the whole of west India. We love spending time with him in his workshop which is filled with old reclaimed doors and windows. All our blocks are made from recycled Sheesham wood.
